There might only be a couple of weeks of summer left, but Joe Mungovan is doing his best to extend it for us, with his summery-vibed track “Lemon + Lime”. Today we are excited to have the video premiere for this chilled tune, ahead of its release tomorrow.
“Lemon + Lime” follows on from “You + Me” which was released late in 2020. Mungovan is continuing the drip-feed of beautifully crafted tunes, featuring deft guitar work and his comforting lilting vocals. This song has seriously catchy vibes. Its got me hook, line and sinker.
The video has a lovely vintage feel about it. Joe gave us some insight into how they made it: “The video was taken while a friend and I were on a road trip around regional NSW. We visited some beautiful towns and decided to make a film clip out of our trip. We used an old Super 8 film camera and spent a week driving around in my van ‘Rodger’, drinking wine and swimming in the ocean.”
The track was recorded during lockdown at a property in Kangaroo Valley. He enlisted the help of a mate, Tim Carr to come down and help finish it off. It would seem that being amongst all that nature wasn’t without its challenges, however: “The cicadas were so loud at that time of year that we had to build a soundproof booth out of blankets and cushions to record the vocals in.”
Mungovan, along with Madi Webb directed the video.
“Lemon+Lime” will be released tomorrow, 17th February. You can pre-save it HERE.
In the meantime, enjoy the first look at the video for this feel-good summery tune.
