Americana is alive and well in New Zealand, courtesy of Miller Yule, who channels some of the greats in his songwriting. His latest release, “Lock Me Up” is a vivid journey on the soul-searching ignited by unrequited love. It’s the latest track from the talented singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and we are thrilled to be premiering the video for it today.
About the track and the video, Miller told the AU, “Lock Me Up is such a special song for me. It’s wonderful to look back and reflect on the journey of the song from writing it in my bedroom, to demoing the song, to recording the final version, getting the master back, and then finally filming the music video. It’s great to have it out in the world to listen to and watch. Thanks for the support and premiere AU review!”
The track was recorded at Studio ‘A’ at Roundhouse Studios in Auckland, with additional recording at Big Pop Studios. The video has a captivating intimacy to it, with the band playing ‘live’. The mood of the performance tracks the story, as Miller sings of the challenge of not stealing someone’s heart that is not rightfully his. Noble indeed!
Miller Yule burst out of the blocks in 2016 with his debut EP, Shoot Me In The Heart. It hit number 4 in the New Zealand Albums Chart, and earned him the support slot for the mighty Ben Harper on his 2016 NZ tour. He has been methodically building his next body of work, and with the pandemic throwing the spanner in the works, he is ready to unleash his latest offerings.
