Earlier this month, alt-dance punk/rock outfit Nocturnal Animals released their latest mesmerising single, “Ashlee’s Berceuse”. We’ve very excited today to be premiering the video for the track.
They’ve also announced that they will be heading out on tour with PVCKER UP to celebrate the release. You’ll be able to find the trio in their skeleton masks and jumpsuits performing across Australia on their What You Need tour. It kicks off on the 25th of May in Adelaide at the Crown & Anchor and finishes up in Sydney on the 22nd of June. All the details are below.
Nocturnal Animals first burst onto the scene in 2020 with the release of their single “Rocket Girls”, and in 2022 dropped their debut EP, Pain A Picture. To date, they have shared the stage with mainstay acts such as Suicidal Tendencies, The Delta Riggs, Yours Truly, Press Club, DZ Deathrays, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Ocean Grove, Redhook, The Buoys and more.
“Ashlee’s Berceuse” straddles shoegaze and grunge, with some punchy percussion and distorted guitars. The melodies float along, with an intimacy to the vocals and lyrics that are engaging and suck you in. The clip was directed by Dylan Zerafa, and edited by Josh Arthur. Ashlee Beecroft & Dylan were the cinematographers.
About the video, the band writes: “The music video for ‘Ashlee’s Berceuse’ is a POV of someone spending the day with their partner. Going from morning to night as we spend time with this couple in love. We wanted an aesthetic that would match the Shoegaze feel of the song, so the home video look was perfect, which also helped the POV approach. The influence for the visual language of the music video through the couple scenes were inspired by romance films like ‘Before Sunrise’, ‘True Romance’ and ‘Blue Valentine’, which all capture an angle of falling in love in their own right. We hope this music video captures those feelings.”
Enjoy!
