Adelaide-based indie-rock quartet SEABASS have dropped “Always Kidding”, the title-track off their debut EP. It’s a beautifully emotive song, with warm harmonies, and a comforting nostalgic feel about it. We’re excited to have the first look at the video for “Always Kidding”, which has a strong visual deftly complementing the tone of the track.
The video was put together by photographer and visual creative Morgan Sette. It follows the band through Adelaide’s inner north, as well as Port Adelaide.
Flik Freeman of SEABASS says of Sette’s contribution: “Morgan did an amazing job of seamlessly transforming what began as a dodgy phone video into something slick and personal. She’s created a more wholesome glimpse of what it’s like to be in a band with your friends when you spend a lot of time hanging out (but we’re much less active in real life)!”
The band formed after a one-off gig supporting no less than Pussy Riot in 2019. Comprised of Annie Siegmann on lead vocals, sound-engineer and guitarist Ryan Martin John, Flik Freeman on bass and Kyrie Anderson on drums, the band is creating some exciting waves with their emotive lyrics and instrumental prowess. Three of them have jazz-backgrounds, which for my money, always ramps up the quality of the musicianship, no matter what the style of music.
If you are lucky enough to be in Adelaide, the band is playing a gig on the 27th February to celebrate the launch of the EP. Details and links for tickets are below.
