Earlier this month, Boorloo/ Perth-based indie/pop/soul artist Stacey Ann released “Ripples”—a fabulous summer-laced infusion of joy and positivity. There’s a vitality and freshness to “Ripples” that gives off happy vibes. The track will be on Stacey’s debut album, A Change In The Wind, which will be released on the 14th of March. We’re thrilled to be premiering the video before its release on Friday.
Stacey’s vocals on the track are bright and soulful. There’s some trumpet from Chris Zappa, which gets bonus points from me instantly. Ruby Miguel on backing vocals and keys, Riley Sutton on drums, Finn Pearson on bass guitar and Ashton Weaver on lead guitar give “Ripples” plenty of spice and joy.
The track reflects upon the beauty and power of strong friendships and how this can have such an uplifting impact on your life, as Stacey explains: “I was inspired to write this song by the people around me who made me see how important it is to surround yourself with positive people and how when this happens, it creates ripple effects in other areas of your life, too.”
Stacey has been busy on the live scene in WA, having played at the Nannup Music Festival and Fremantle Winter Music Festival, as well as supporting the likes of Ghost Care, Joan & The Giants and Dulcie.
The video was produced by Cedric Tang, the DOP was Tavian Ord, assisted by Jeremy Tan. The video showcases Stacey and her pals on roller skates, as bright and summery as the song itself, and reminds us of the power and joy of strong friendships.
Stacey told the AU about the video: “I wanted to create a video that resonates the uplifting energy of the song and celebrates the feeling of having good friendships. For me, good friendship feels like big love and fulfillment, which is exactly what I wanted the clip to capture. One of the best ways I felt could capture this energy was through having a party and rolling around on roller skates, which both reflect how our healthy friendships can also bring out our childlike selves.”
So, enjoy the video; it’s great fun. Surround yourself with people that lift you up.
