Another installment of Brisbane’s newest boutique music event – Track & Field – is looming just around the corner, set to fill the rooms of local venue The Arena on Friday, November 25th. Following the success of the its first chapter at The Old Museum in May 2011, Track & Field is set to reignite The Arena’s history as one of the city’s long lost performance spaces.
Brisbane was reluctant to say goodbye to the venue in 2009, as it closed its doors to live music and transformed into R&B club Mystique overnight. Since then, The Arena’s reputation as a leading venue is Brisbane has been unfortunately forgotten. The stage has been graced by an enormous list of artists over the years (Gomez, The Prodigy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Queens of the Stone Age, Nick Cave and The Church) and recent events such as Track & Field are proving that the venue is ready to return to its former glory.
Track & Field will once again host a brilliant collection of Australian indie talent. Gold Coast punk-rock outfit Bleeding Knees Club are set to headline, while Sydney’s Deep Sea Arcade will be releasing their latest single ‘Girls’. Brisbane’s Velociraptor and Gung-Ho will also be playing, accompanied by DJ sets from Little Scout, party starters Gilsun and Naysayer Unnecessary Knowledge.
With multiple rooms, dual bars, an incredible line-up of music and the assistance of extra sound and lighting, Track & Field will once again transform The Arena into the perfect setting for a stellar night of music.
