With devastating fires sweeping the Great Ocean Road area on Christmas Day, the Lorne leg of Falls Festival has been in question. Since then, festival organisers have been keeping the public updated on the status of Falls via social media, partaking in emergency services meetings to ensure that all angles are considered. Initially, it was announced that the festival site was “safe from the path of fires”.
Lorne had their evacuation order lifted this morning, giving hope to over 15,000 ticket-holders who are expected to head along to Falls this year, bringing in 2016 with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Bloc Party, Foals, Django Django, and Disclosure.
In a statement just released, it looks like the festival will go ahead, just in a different venue. The event has moved from it’s traditional spot at Falls Farm and will now take place nearby at Mount Dundeed Estate in Geelong. All tickets will be valid for the new venue.
