We’re two months out from the Falls and Southbound festivals kicking off for another year and like previous years, tickets have been flying for the events held around the country over the New Year’s period. With the likes of Foals, Bloc Party andThe Wombats headlining, the festival tour this year has represented a strong line up of international favourites, not to mention a crop of artists from Australia and abroad who’ve broke out strongly through 2015. Today, a bunch of official sideshows have been announced for a select few of these heavy hitters – click through to see where you can catch ’em and when.
FOALS – Melbourne & Sydney
The release of What Went Down sent shockwaves through the Foals fan base, as well as industry folk who maybe weren’t expecting the Oxford act to come out of the gates as hard as they did off the back of Holy Fire. With material that has showed the band having continued to grow on what’s now a well-oiled sense of performance and musicianship, while displaying this unbridled sense of ferocity as well, these Australian appearances aren’t to be missed. Check out our recent review of how the new Foals live show went down in Berlin here.

Their new single is dropping next week, with album number five not too far off either but perhaps more importantly, fans will be eager to see how the band performs with its new line up. With only Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack the only two BP originals, the band is definitely showing all signs of having entered a new chapter and this Australian tour is going to be all types of interesting to get around.

The release of her debut album Badlands has well solidified Halsey as one of the new artists of 2015 and has seen her perform well-received sets at the likes of Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, not to mention her own sold out US tour. The pop star will strike a chord all her own on the Falls and Southbound tour, though her debut headline Australian club shows are sure to be special ones all their own.

BØRNS – Melbourne & Sydney
Another solo artist who has been winning fans rapidly through this year is 23 year old BØRNS. The LA musician has been producing pop tunes that have taken influences appreciative of melody in all its facets and although the comparisons to fellow LA cruisers Grouplove have been bandied around, the sunkissed attitude his location lends to his music has had its own unique effect on BØRNS’ tunes. Selling out shows all through the US and the UK, he’s lined Australia up next and no doubt, the festival crowds are a perfect way to introduce himself.
