Eora/Sydney punks FANGZ release new single ‘Wide Awake’, announce the return of FANGZstock

Eora/Sydney punk quintent FANGZ have just dropped their latest single ‘Wide Awake‘, an energetic exploration of acceptance and moving on. Produced by Tim Maxwell (LOSER) and mixed by Jonathan Gardner (Front End Loader, Grinspoon), it’s another belter from the band, and a fierce addition to their riotous live setlists.

Of the new track, frontman Josh Cottreau said:

“‘Wide Awake’ is about that gut-wrenching moment when you’re lying awake, realizing a relationship that once felt so right just isn’t there anymore. It’s that quiet understanding that somehow, along the way, you both changed and now you’re almost strangers. There’s no anger here, just a bittersweet acceptance—letting go with respect and a bit of sadness, knowing it’s time to find happiness in new directions.”

The official return of FANGZstock was announced alongside the single release, with the festival going interstate, hitting up venues in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. Mountain Wizard Death Cult will join FANGZ at all dates, with a slew of local acts taking to the stage in each city. There’ll also be hot dog eating contests, unlucky door prizes, and kissing booths. Well, that’s one way to follow up a 24 hour tour, right?

The band’s Insta post accompanying the announcement said:

“What started as a love letter to Sydney’s live music scene has now blown up into a full-on shoutout to Aussie music and the sickest local scenes across the east coast.

FANGZstock 2025 is here, and we’ve stacked the line-up with nothing but legends. This one’s for the punters, the bands, and everyone who keeps the gigs gigging.”
