And before we knew it, the final day of Byron Bay Bluesfest 2023 was upon us.
Jon Stevens was up early, and brought the hits from his days fronting The Noiseworks and dipping into his time with INXS. There were plenty in the crowd who had come on Monday specifically for this.
The legendary Bonnie Raitt returned for her second show, and showcased songs from her extensive career, including her brilliant Grammy-award albums Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw.
Nikki Hill is a force of nature, and it was a thrill to catch her one last time at the festival. She played 5 sets across the festival, and each time won over new fans. Here’s hoping that she is invited back next year.
The Doobie Brothers have been delivering the hits for over five decades. If you were at the Crossroads, you were able to catch them enchant the crowd with their harmonies and ever so sweet guitar licks.
Closing out the night on the Mojo stage was the irresistible force that is The Cat Empire. They have a revamped lineup, but have lost none of their appeal. At the front and centre was the charismatic Felix Riebl, and on keys the maestro Ollie McGill. They had us skipping out of the festival on a high.
Early bird tickets are on sale for next years Bluesfest. Elvis Costello & the Imposters have already been announced as headliners. See HERE for tickets.
