With the 2012 and 2013 events selling out months in advance, OutsideIn Festival has proven to be one of Sydney’s favourite boutique music festivals, with a unique lineup and great atmosphere. Their third installment – announced today for 29th November 2014 – looks to be no different, bringing together the best music of now, some classics and some future favourites.
Fronting the first announcement are 90’s hip-hop pioneers The Pharcyde (US) leading the charge for nostalgia and an appreciation of musical roots. Not to leave the electronic audience wanting, local electronica 3 piece Seekae, Pantha Du Prince (GER), Giraffage (US), and 80’s throwback synth-lords Client Liaison round up an impressive list of live electronica acts set to feature at this year’s event.
OutsideIn continues to push forward the burgeoning electronic music scene from Australia, whilst showcasing credible leftfield talent and underground superstars from the rest of the world. This year’s event is no different, with the addition of the Red Bull Music Academy stage to the 2014 festival.
Fast becoming a staple of forward thinking Australian festivals (see Laneway / Splendour) the RBMA stage will feature the likes of garage LEGEND Wookie (UK), Footwork protagonist of the highest order DJ Spinn (US), Four Tet-produced MC Rome Fortune (US), Jubilee (US), Fishing, >Guerre, Black Vanilla, and Sydney’s own Preacha & Moriarty. The stage will also feature Aussie RBMA alumni Sui Zhen, who will open the stage.
Some fine DJ talents help round out the first announcement, with a mix of international house tastemakers, local boogie practitioners and much-loved local party crushers appearing across all three arenas. From day to night the festival air will be filled with the blissful, at times low-slung, acidic sounds of Sweden’s HNNY (read: Honey), Melbourne’s own Tornado Wallace and Plastic World’s Retiree. With local support from Astral People friends Andy Webb and Ariane, plus a host of local and international artists still to be announced, OutsideIn is guaranteed to build on its already-iconic status (remember when Thom Yorke showed up that time!?).
A meeting of the minds, OutsideIn is a collaboration between Sydney’s taste-making touring and management agency, Astral People and record label, Yes Please. Together, they have handpicked the futuristic sounds of each OutsideIn event, each year ensuring that their events boast excellent music, at an accessible price.
