Converse’s latest campaign SNEAKERS WOULD (celebrating the FA14 All Star Collection) will be seeing free concerts happening in Sydney and Melbourne next week, with the sneaker makers giving out tickets to fans in unique ways. So far, they’ve used job search service Seek to find a “front row fist-pumper” in Melbourne. With other giveaway methods a hotly kept secret, we’d like to suggest five other ways Converse should find their fans…
Before we begin, here’s the plan Converse are undertaking for the ticket giveaways: “Tickets cannot be purchased; instead, Converse fans will find ticket offers in unexpected places and receive spur-of-the-moment invitations to drop what they’re doing to attend these one-of-a-kind live shows. The opportunity could strike at any time with a clear choice – act spontaneously and live in the moment like a sneaker or carry on as normal like a shoe…”
1. Scavenger Hunts
Finding tickets at the end of a series of easter eggs hidden around a city is nothing new, but it’s popular because of how fun the method has proven to be. With SNEAKERS WOULD, Converse are looking for ways to give away money-cant-buy music experiences, so why not utilise the city and turn it into one big playground for the sake of live music. Maybe they’ll hide a ticket under a specific pair of chucks in a store on the edge of the city, or they could bury it in the sand on a beach – the possibilities are endless.
2. Bounce your way to victory
Using spaces such as Sky Zone in Sydney’s Alexandria (think walls of trampolines), Converse should set up a bouncy basketball match – there’s nothing wrong with getting a little physical over live music.
3. Sneaker Pong
How about setting a table tennis match up in the middle of Sydney or Melbourne and have people battle it out for tickets, using the same rules as Beer Pong, but replacing the red cups with brand new Converse. We daresay the winner should win themselves a pair of sneakers as well…
4. Rap Battles
Pick up a mic and start battling your neighbours. It’s a winner take all, so feel free to diss one and others mothers. Just ask yourself: What Would Rabbit Do?
5. Celebrity Endorsements
Who doesn’t love a free pair of new Chucks? Surely the folk and Converse could bribe a few of our much loved actors and musicians in exchange for some Celebrity support. They tweet a clue to their location and the fans come running. Whoever gets their first gets their hands on the tickets. But don’t put your hands on the talent or you may find yourself with a restraining order!
