Foo Fighters have released a new EP and you can download it for free right now

Accompanied by an emotional letter written by Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters have surprised their fans with the release of a brand new EP titled Saint Cecilia. Streaming on a landing page and available on iTunes, the five-song package comes after a mysterious countdown on the band’s official website hit 00:00, giving us material which has Dave hopes will “bring a little light into this sometimes dark world”.

Following the tragedy in Paris, the planned tone of this release has changed and Dave has since written another letter prefacing the original, which explains the reasoning behind this release. You can read the letter and listen to the EP HERE.

There is also a link to donate to Josh Homme’s Sweet Stuff Foundation and the victims of the Paris attacks.

An except from the letter:

It was heartbreaking to leave that place, to say the least. I honestly feel like we left a piece of our band there as we were being torn away from it. The perfect unity of life, and love, and music is something that only comes around so often and in certain circumstances. When you feel it coming on, you have to take hold of it. That place and those people made it possible for our band to take one, big final breath before the curtain closes. Thankfully, we have evidence of this in these songs that we’re giving to you today. Thank you, Saint Cecilia. You made us feel right at home.
