The first line up for next year’s SXSW music festival dropped in the early hours, unveiling an impressive list of global names set to be performing in and around Austin, Texas, from March 12th – 18th. Returning names include the likes of Shamir, Marlon Williams and Milk & Bone, while the Australian contingent boasts some of our favourite established and emerging names.
SXSW Music has continued to follow the same path as in recent years, we’ve noticed, deciding to delve more into the ‘discovery’ pool than other years; it built itself on the idea that this was a music festival to discover new and unearthed artists from around the world, though there were a lot of years where SXSW’s balance of the unearthed with the commercial smash hit artists was tipping more in favour of the latter, it has to be said. Over the last few years though, the music festival has seemed to right that balance again and honestly, it’s made for a more fulfilling experience on ground.
Check out the Australian & New Zealand artists who have been invited to perform at SXSW below – more artists are due to be announced soon, for more information, visit www.sxsw.com/music.
