2024’s iteration of Good Things Festival is scheduled to roll through the country commencing the first week of December. With a stellar lineup featuring some of the biggest bands from today, yesterday and tomorrow, the curators have managed to book a lineup that is diverse and ready to please everyone in attendance.
From headliners Korn, Sum 41 and Violent Femmes, through to mid tier acts like The Living End, Billy Corgan and Mastodon, right down to your smaller font legends like Killing Heidi and Taylor Acorn, Good Things is primed to help everyone blow the cobwebs out as we lead into the silly season.
Now a little more than a month from the festival, Good Things has announced a run of sideshows for many of the international bands touring on the festival. We’ve hand picked a few we’re looking forward to and if you’re lucky enough to be heading along to the festival, definitely think you should check out.
Sum 41
Doing one last lap of the globe on their ‘Tour of the Setting Sum’, these shows will be some of your last chances to catch Sum 41 in the flesh. With a career spanning close to 30 years, the Canadian act is responsible for some of the best pop-punk moments of a generation, with albums All Killer, No Filler (featuring singles “Fat Lip” and “In Too Deep”) and Does This Look Infected? (with singles “The Hell Song” and “Still Waiting”) playing pivotal roles in shaping the musical tastes of plenty of people growing up in the early 2000’s.
Locked in to play four sideshows whilst in the country, these headline shows promise to go down as some of the all-timers, filled with plenty of nostalgia and sweat.
Wednesday 4 December – Fortitude Musical Hall, Brisbane
Tuesday 10 December – AEC Theatre, Adelaide
Thursday 12 December – Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne
Saturday 14 December – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
All shows supported by Grandson
The Gaslight Anthem
15 years on from releasing The 59’ Sound, The Gaslight Anthem return to Aus for the first time in a decade, bringing in tow a new album (2023’s stellar History Books) and a back catalogue as deep and wide as any fan could hope for.
Sure to play a varied and delightful set including “45”, “The 59’ Sound”, “Great Expectations”, “American Slang” and “Howl”, The Gaslight Anthem is a band you’d be silly to miss when they hit up the east coast in the coming weeks.
Monday 2 December – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Tuesday 3 December – Liberty Hall, Sydney
Wednesday 4 December – Croxton Bandroom, Melbourne
Bowling For Soup
Touring as part of the 20 year anniversary of their A Hangover You Don’t Deserve album, Bowling For Soup is ready to bring the good vibes and hits to a variety of theatres across the country. Promising to play the album front-to-back with a selection of other favourites thrown in for good measure, these shows promise to be something special for those fans who either grew up listening to the band or were in their prime at some point in the past 25 years.
Tuesday 10 December – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Wednesday 11 December – Princess Theatre, Brisbane
Thursday 12 December – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
All shows supported by Taylor Acorn
