GOTYE‘S sold-out mini-orchestra tour of 2007 left critics a bit breathless and fans wanting more. In support of his new album, Making Mirrors (released 19 August via Eleven: a music company), Gotye is pleased to present a brand new 10-piece orchestra tour to a national audience.
For the first time ever, the orchestra will re-create Gotye’s unique, sample-laden music in a completely live setting. That means no click tracks or backing tracks, people. The orchestra will include Wally de Backer (Gotye) on vocals, a midi marimba, drums. 3-piece horn section, keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion, drumkit and backing vocals. In addition, there will be visuals animated by some of Australia’s most talented artists (Rubber House, Lucinda Schreiber, Mechanical Apple, PictureDRIFT) and performed live with the band. The tour manager will be busy.
Anticipation for Making Mirrors is at fever pitch following the release of Gotye’s heart-stopping single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know (Feat. Kimbra) which debuted at #27 on the ARIA Charts last week. It’s currently the #1 most played song on Triple J and is currently at #5 on the iTunes Singles Chart. If you’re not one of the 230,000 people who has seen the impressive video online, please check it out here.
From today, fans will also be able to pre-order exclusive Making Mirrors album packages across digital and physical formats which includes two 10-minute documentaries: The Making of Eyes Wide Open and Making Making Mirrors , four film clips (‘Eyes Wide Open’, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)’, ‘State Of The Art’ and ‘Bronte’). There’s also exclusive bonus tracks available, a limited edition album artwork poster plus a limited run of Making Mirrors 12″ Vinyl personally signed.
