Harvest organisers are currently seeking proposals for arts ideas and installations to enhance the sense of discovery and adventure that will make the event extra special. Ideas can be large scale of tiny, abstract or naturalistic, from a singular discipline of combination of approaches.
Applicants may wish to tailor an idea to The Secret Garden, the blissful world of a thousand delights; to Bootleg Avenue, the decadent neo-noir landscape complete with alt-performance stage Le Boudoir; to the main stage music arenas where everything is writ large; or to one of the many magical nooks and crannies in between.
Proposals should be sent to: submissions@harvest festival.com.au The deadline for applications is August 15.
CALL OUT FOR ARTISTIC PROPOSALS
Harvest is a one day outdoor music and arts festival taking place this November in Melbourne (12 Nov), Sydney (13 Nov) and Brisbane (19 Nov). Catering for a discerning music and cross-arts audience, festival goers will come to Harvest for the world-class line-up and return for the extraordinary experience.
Thrilling and magical, Harvest will be a banquet for all the senses – exhilarating music, stunning location, beautiful art installations, playful and subversive performance, quality food and markets, and a strong ecological and social consciousness.
Harvest will offer festival-goers a space to re-imagine just what kind of world we want to live in, a time to reconnect with the important things in life… and an opportunity to indulge in play.

AREA DESCRIPTIONS THE MAIN ARENA
You have shrunk, child like. Reconnect with the land while your gaze turns skywards – backdrop of tumbling white cloud on dazzling blue. Everything is bigger, bolder, fresh and new – it feels like just about anything could happen. Your favourite band is playing right now, right here, right in front of you. Take your best friend’s hand – dance.
The main arena is where the primary music stages will be, and where we want to play with notions of perspective, of nature and with the theme of harvest. We imagine fields of giant tulips, oversize vines and immense hay bale seating, crop circle projections and golden reflections. Abstract insects tower above you while strange and beautiful beacons of light, sound and colour add to the wonder. That’s our starting point – surprise us.
THE SECRET GARDEN
Eyes wide – you stumble upon a world of a thousand delights. Twinkling trees, grass and earth sculptures, Japanese gardens beckon; spoken word by the campfire; soul and secret sets on an intricate wooden acoustic stage nestling in a natural amphitheatre. You could fall in love here.
The Secret Garden is a blissful alternative area that will incorporate funk, soul, world and folk music on a solar powered Garden Stage, as well as holistic therapies, shots of spoken word and theatre, discussion and debate around the Campfire Stage, workshops and markets, secret nooks and crannies, as well as some of the best food and drink Australia has to offer. Installations here should be deeply connected to the environment, inspired by the trees, the water, the land. Bespoke, quirky, plentiful.
BOOTLEG AVENUE
You’re upside down, landed in a neo-noir landscape where the debauched denizens lure you in and spit you out – transformed utterly. Decadent whimsy and dangerous glamour combine – the underground is seething, sleazy, trashy, and fun. Now… how would you like your Martini Sir?
A darkness to The Secret Garden’s light, Bootleg Avenue is home to our 1920s inspired alt-performance tent, Le Boudoir, our hush-hush swing-time Prohibition Bar, and Metropolis – our field of surreal outdoor installations. Indulge in the provocative, the subversive, the unexpected; In Bootleg Avenue, honey, you gotta show us what you’re made of.
