Before the weekend, Le1f was the first name leaked/revealed for Melbourne’s Sugar Mountain festival, quickly indicating that the organisers had another vibrant and eclectic line up in store. This morning, they’ve gone and announced the full line up of artists, musicians and individuals set to take part in the event next January at the VCA and Melbourne Arts Precinct!
January 23rd will see the program feature some of the world’s best in cutting edge visual arts and music, along with new spaces being utilised in one of the best arts scenes in the country. Sugar Mountain’s visual art element expands in 2016 with more exhibitions and world premieres, not to mention the opportunity for one VCA graduate to exhibit their work through the inaugural Sugar Mountain Art Prize being up for grabs.
In terms of music, Hot Chip, Dirty Three and Courtney Barnett lead the line up announcement, while artists including Kelela, Kate Tempest, Viet Cong and Royal Headache are also artists who have made us perk up particularly this morning. With the music side of things well taken care of, the crew behind Sugar Mountain have also curated a stellar line up of artists for next year’s event including the likes of, NONOTAK (Japan/France), Daniel Askill (Australia) and fuse* (Italy). A great and diverse list of names will be performing, check the official line up announcement video out below!
Sugar Mountain in 2016 also introduces ‘Sensory’, a brand new on-site restaurant concept, bringing the festival and three Melbourne icons (Bomba, Tin & Ed and Cut Copy) together. The restaurant will only be hosting four sittings of 90 people each – information and tickets can be accessed viawww.sugarmountainfestival.com!
