Red Bull Sound Select is expanding its series to include Sydney in its continued global takeover, bringing in Johann Ponniah from I OH YOU and Travis Banko from the Laneway Festival to curate one hell of a debut event in Australia! Red Bull Sound Select have always been about unearthing innovative and talented artists through a brilliant development program that has been launched successfully through Canada, North America and New Zealand.
The Australian series, set to run monthly, will feature three acts handpicked by Ponniah and Banko – one headliner and two RBSS unearthed artists. This first event will be held at Sydney’s Chippendale Hotel on April 29th and will feature Methyl Ethel, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Flowertruck!
Ponniah has said of the series, “We are really psyched to be one of the curators for the Australian arm of Red Bull Sound Select. As fans of what the program has been achieving internationally, we’re incredibly excited to be a part of bringing it to Australian shores. Just hoping we can keep pushing the envelope like other curators have been internationally and program some of the best up and coming talent that Australia has to offer!”
