Interview: Luke Million (AUS) talks favourite New Years and playing NYE in the Park

Christmas holidays are nearly upon us, which means New Years is nearly here too, so it’s time to get those plans finalised (if you haven’t already). If you’re in Sydney your decision got a whole lot easier earlier this year, with the announcement that NYE in the Park would be returning for a second year.

The mini festival offers an escape from the overcrowded and anticlimactic CBD and promises a night of live music from a host of Australian talent across two stages. Throw in some gourmet street food, affordable drinks, and a massive midnight fireworks display and you’re onto a winner.

Ahead of NYE we caught up with Luke Million to chat a bit more about New Years past and what to expect from his set at NYE in the Park.

What were you doing on your favourite ever NYE?

There have been many awesome music festivals and parties over the years, but one of my favourites was when I actually had nothing on and stayed home. I ordered takeaway and watched some pretty bad, yet amazing Steven Segal movies on TV.

What three things make the perfect New Years Eve?

Friends, music and plenty of booze.

What can fans expect from your set at NYE IN THE PARK?

I will be bringing the energy and busting out the keytar for the last bit of shredding for the year.

Who else are you excited to check out while you’re there? Will you get to stay around until midnight?

It’s a cracker of a line up this year and I’m keen to catch as much as I can whilst I am there. I’ve also heard that one of my favourite restaurants; Porteño is catering, so I will probably be getting involved in that.

What’s been your highlight as an artist in 2018?

I think the festivals have been a highlight for me in 2018. Being part of Hot Dub Wine Machine, Expo Liaison and Set’s On The Beach was so much fun. They were all amazing and I got to share my music with so many new people.

What are you most looking forward to in 2019?

I’m looking forward to hunkering down in the studio to finish a bunch of new music and then being able to take it out on the road and share it with the world.

And hot tip on your favourite album and/or song in 2018?

My favourite song of 2018 is Wafia‘s “I’m Good”. Loved it from the first listen and it is just an amazing song.

Luke Million is appearing at NYE in the Park, which takes place on December 31st in Sydney’s Victoria Park. For more information and to grab those last minute tickets head HERE
