Japanese Breakfast are coming back to Australian shores this June

For the first time in eight years, Grammy nominated indie pop band, Japanese Breakfast, is coming back to Australian shores this June for Melbourne’s RISING arts festival and Sydney’s Vivid LIVE series.

After a whirlwind couple of years with the beautifully raw memoir and The New York Times Bestseller, Crying at the H Mart, lead singer of Japanese Breakfast, Michelle Zauner, is going back to their roots and with the release of a brand new album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women) – out on the 21st of March.

The first single, “Orlando in Love” was inspired by Matteo Maria Boiardo’s “Orlando Innamorato”, a Renaissance poem. The song and music video tells the tale of a foolish man seduced by temptation, which Zauner reported to Rolling Stone as “the perfect thesis statement for an album that is largely about people, often men, who find themselves seduced by temptation and are duly punished for it.” The moody ballad gives excited fans a taste of the dreamy, melancholic, euphoric sound the album might bring.

Japanese Breakfast are only playing two shows in Australia, and are sure to sell out, so get in quick.
