Japanese pop-rock duo moumoon helped bring iconic British festival The Great Escape – held annually in Brighton and now in its tenth year – to an end yesterday, performing their second and final performance at the event in the intimate Brighton Museum.
Surrounded by fine art from the likes of Angelica Kauffman and Gillian Ayres, while fans sat comfortably and enjoyed the special performance, the duo – made up of YUKA and Masaki – performed unplugged and acoustic in a twenty five minute set that included tracks like the English version of “moonlight” and a beautiful cover of the classic track “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree, that YUKA called one of her favourite tracks of all time.
The special set up for the duo saw Masaki on guitar and YUKA adding in her vocals, chimes and tambourine. Earlier on during the three day event, the duo performed a full electronic set up during the Japan Rising event at the Queens Hotel.
The Great Escape was held from the 14th to the 16th of May in Brighton, England. For more on moumoon, head to their official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/moumoon.official
