JPEGMAFIA set to return to Australia in 2025

JPEGMAFIA

For many years now JPEGMAFIA has been expanding his hold across the infinitely deep underground rap scene. Primary to his growth has been his incredible consistency through every release of his. If you ask fans of JPEGMAFIA – or ‘Peggy’ as he is known to them – what their favourite album of his is, you’ll find that there is no consensus pick. Some will go to the harsh industrial intensities of Veteran, others to the moodier and lusher sonics of All My Heroes are Cornballs and others to the brash dramatics of his collab album with fellow underground legend Danny Brown, SCARING THE HOES. And beyond these albums there’s plenty more to choose from, further spanning sonic categories and eluding straightforward labels.

The only things that would suggest these albums had been made by the same artist are the deep-cut samples, the boldness of the experience and the fact that all of it has been sucked through a comprehensive internet vacuum, leaving traces of memes, trends and internet figures littered throughout. And it seems that this suite of artistic interests and creative instincts has melded into one of the most acclaimed rappers of today. Peggy will celebrate his growth as he embarks on his most complete world tour to date.

In 2024 Peggy announced that he would be releasing three total albums. The first was his collab album with Danny Brown, the second being a solo LP and finally a remaster of one of his early albums, The GHOST~POP TAPES. Despite the fact only one of these materialised in 2024, fans of his knew of his immense work ethic. Oftentimes Peggy will record tens and sometimes hundreds of songs for his albums which may never be heard, all of which he typically writes, produces, raps on and masters himself. So, with his reputation for quality firmly preceding him, fans began waiting eagerly, and it seems we will be soon rewarded given both his latest single, “don’t rely on other men” and this tour announcement confirming his next album being just over the horizon.

The New Zealand and Australia leg of the LAY DOWN MY LIFE tour will begin in late February of 2025 in Auckland, before moving across to Australia beginning with Brisbane then Sydney, Melbourne and finally Fremantle.
