As the G.O.O.D Music team prep their new compilation Cruel Winter, the follow-up to 2012’s Cruel Summer, a preview has appeared by the tentative name of “Round & Round (Champions)” and – in a similar fashion to “Mercy”, the lead single from Cruel Summer – it has Kanye at the head of a strong line-up made up of both mid-west and south new jacks and heavy-hitters. The posse cut features chart-smashing, “Panda” rapper/singer Desiigner, moody cult rapper Travis Scott (who just dropped a single of his own), Detroit star Big Sean, homecoming trap lord Gucci Mane, Migos’ Quavo, ubiquitous emcee 2 Chainz, and Memphis champ Yo Gotti.
With 8 cooks stirring the pot things are bound to sound a bit off, and sadly that’s the case here, at least for the most part as Big Sean (whose flow is mirroring Drake here), 2 Chainz, and Yo Gotti especially hold it down for the team while Desiigner handles the hook. Kanye has reportedly stated that the song may be remixed a couple of times, lengthened, and may feature even more of the G.O.O.D Music roster, before it’s officially released, but for now you can hear a good quality radio rip of the current version, which only just aired on Big Boy’s 92.3 radio hours ago.
Let’s just say, if you don’t think much of commercial rap, this won’t change your mind. Turn up and turn up below:
