US late night talk shows are a showcase of all-things celebrity, politics, humor, comedy and music. They are often treated as the final thing we see before we go to sleep. With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert debuting in the same 11:30pm slot opposite Kimmel and Fallon – all shows were keen to pull out the big guns in the hope of attracting/retaining viewers.

Ah we still really, really miss Letterman and if there is one tradition of Dave’s I will forever miss it will be having Darlene Love on the last show before Christmas each year to sing her mega-hit “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”. In her first time back in the Ed Sullivan Theatre since last December with Dave, she brought along a few friends – Elvis Costello & Steven Van Zandt (of the E Street Band) to play a track off her new album Introducing Darlene Love. C’mon Stephen, some traditions are meant to be kept!
