Though the full lineup announcement isn’t due until next month, two of the three headliners have been leaked in the leadup to the New Year for the iconic Coachella Music Festival in California. And as they like to do, the festival is focusing on reformations and reunions to bring in the headlines and the punters across its two weekends.
According to The New York Times, James Murphy and the gang of LCD Soundsystem will headline one of the festival’s three days, kicking off what is set to be their first gig in some five years. This confirms rumours that had been circulating, fuelled in recent days by a release of a Christmas song from the group.
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier in the week by Billboard that Guns N’ Roses will also headline one of the days under the guise of a reunion between the group’s most iconic members – Slash and Axl Rose. It’s unclear which other members will join, though fans are hoping for as close to as original lineup as they can get – that being the lineup that recorded the band’s 1987 debut, Appetite for Destruction (Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler).
The festival has yet to make the leaks official, though you can expect them to do so when the full lineup is released next month.
Coachella takes place in Indio, California across two weekends – April 15 to 17 and April 22 to 24. For more details about the festival, head to: https://www.coachella.com/.
