Lucky and TOWNS interview each other, ahead of their support slots for Dear Seattle

Dear Seattle will be on the road for their national tour this May, performing songs from their ARIA #1 Australian Album, TOY. The latest album by this indie rock quartet explores relationships and evolution and includes singles “Evergreen”, “Counting Hours”, and “Say What You Want”.

Local acts, TOWNS and Lucky will be joining them on the tour, which hits Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. We have all the dates below for you.

Adelaide pop-punk band TOWNS debuted in 2018 with “Television”. Showcasing their 90s rock blend and energetic songwriting, this duo released their debut LP, sentimental slowdown, last year, Their fiery single “Birthdays” agonises about growing up: “Day by day we push away//The candles on our birthday cake”.

Lucky is an emerging Melbourne indie artist, garnering local fans since her debut song “Never Know” was released last year. This track is reminiscent of beabadoobee and Day Wave, musicians Lucky herself is fond of. “You never know where I’m goin’//Cause I never know where I’ll go,” she sings.

To know more about these brilliant support acts for Dear Seattle, we asked them to interview each other. Read on!

Lucky interviews TOWNS

What is your go-to road trip album?

I think the first Panic at the Disco record was equally influential on both of us and we love singing like young Brendon Urie at the top of our lungs.

Who is an unexpected musical influence of TOWNS?

I don’t think it shows up in too much we’ve done so far but we are both BIG fans of jungle/drum and bass/euro house electronic stuff it’s a go too when we’re hanging out, otherwise Hilary Duff and The Veronica’s have genuinely influenced us.

If your music was the soundtrack to a movie, what kind of movie would it be?

We’ve heard the American pie movies before but they haven’t aged well for obvious reasons, but something like max keebles big movie, some movie where a teen has a big breakthrough about life and then has HEAPS of fun with their friends, a coming of age classic hopefully.

What new song from ‘TOY’ are you most excited to hear live?

It’s gotta be cut my hair, on first listen to that album from 3 seconds in I was hooked on it sonically and then that big hook of a chorus comes in and I’m SOLD. Fingers crossed we get to hear it on the TOY tour!

Must have item to take on tour?

I recently bought a PlayStation portal and being able to play fifa while I’m away from home is pretty rad, Dan will probably never go anywhere without peanut butter OTHERWISE you can’t top the headphones portable charger combo, ultimate unwind combo.

TOWNS interviews Lucky

Do you believe in luck? If so what has been either your most lucky or unlucky moment so far.

Kinda? I believe sometimes things either go your way or don’t, and that can make you feel ‘lucky’. Most recent ‘unlucky’ moment was a nail popping my tire..

If you could live or play in any city America what would you pick?

I’m going for the classics, would love to play in New York City or LA!

What’s your dream artist to open for and what’s an artist you’d love to have open for you?

Opening for Momma would be a dream & I would love to play a show with sleepazoid!

Favourite movie or tv show you could watch over and over and never get sick of?

Hot Rod (2007). Not enough people have seen this movie!

If we were to look at your TikTok/IG reels algorithm what categories of videos would we find?

Politics, Veronika_iscool, brain rot
