Meg Mac, SAFIA, Eves the Behavior and more feature on Spotify’s Spotlight on 2016 Artists

Spotify have released the Spotlight on 2016 artists list- a look ahead at who they predict to be the brightest stars of 2016. The list is curated by the team at Spotify and involves an analysis of music fan’s listening data, considering the following:

    • The artists whose music is appearing in Spotify’s viral charts, which are a barometer of the music that is being shared the most among friends.

    • The artists being listened to now by Spotify’s most musically-influential users, who have a track record of discovering breaking artists early.

    • The artists whose music is bubbling up in Spotify’s Fresh Finds, a weekly-updated playlists that identifies under-the-radar artists that are generating buzz online.

Spotify’s Spotlight programme aims to assist new artists in building their careers by finding and connecting with a fan base on Spotify.

Label Relations Manager for Australia & New Zealand Andy Vincent, said: “Spotify in Australia and New Zealand continues to grow to an impressive scale. Not only do we have more music fans than ever before using the service, but they are now listening to their favourite artists and discovering new music at a truly exponential rate.

The success of Discover Weekly has demonstrated the massive appetite that our fans have for discovering new music, and the success of previous Spotlight artists like Troye Sivan, Tkay Maidza, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Kllo makes the announcement of 2016 that much more exciting.”
