MIND OVER MATTER TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, ‘JUST LIKE FIREWORKS’
Sydney’s Mind Over Matter – comprised of MCs Willow and Smiles – are set to explode with their fittingly titled sophomore album ‘Just Like Fireworks’.
The vaunted duo are best known for their recent collaboration with Bliss N Eso on their #1, Platinum-selling album ‘Running On Air’, but have been making waves in the Hip Hop scene since the release of their first mixtape ‘For Our Hip Hoppers’ in 2006, which earned them an Ozhiphop.com Mixtape Of The Year nomination. This release – coupled with their energetic live presence – led to a swag of big name supports, including the likes of Bliss N Eso, Muph & Plutonic, Pegz, Drapht, Downsyde, Pez, 360, DJ Flagrant and Def Wish Cast, as well as international heavyweights Method Man, Redman, Masta Ace and Mystro.
Their first album, 2008’s ‘Keepin’ It Breezy’, garnered them extensive national airplay and critical acclaim, leading to them featuring on the ‘Who’s Got Next’ mixtape, alongside the likes of Illy, Phatchance, Pez, 360 and Thundamentals. The following year the boys released their second mixtape, ‘Free The Wolves’, which led to more radio spins, another Ozhiphop.com Mixtape Of The Year nomination, and their appointment as a Triple J Unearthed feature artist.
2011 now marks the release of Mind Over Matter’s sophomore album ‘Just Like Fireworks’, from which the first single “Rappers In Wonderland” has already been added to the Triple J and FBi playlists. The 17 tracker is host to a melody of original and sample-based beats which features a list of talented guest vocalists including Pigeon John, Vida Sunshyne, Saving Grace, Drakezilla, Jon Reichardt, Ernst Carter Junior (aka Sam Mcniell) and Lillian Blue. It also features beats from the likes of Matik (Pez/Seth Sentry), Poker Beats (Hilltop Hoods), Konfuzion, Allrounda, DJ Ilz, Jon Reichardt and Saving Grace.
With a reputation forged around a tireless touring schedule and passionate fan base, Mind Over Matter are guaranteed not to disappoint on their ‘Just Like Fireworks’ national album tour in April and May. More info on www.mindovermattercrew.com.
