Music Video Monday feat. The Panics, Faker, Ernest Ellis, Red Remedy, Jim Ward, Myles Mayo, Anna Calvi, Phrase and More!

We return this Monday with the largest selection of music videos yet! We have eleven music videos to share with your today – plenty of local love, and some other selections from around the world. We kick things off with our music video of the week: Perth band The Panics with “Majesty”.

The video was directed by Moopjaw and as you can see cleverly features a pile of archival footage. The track itself sees the band positioned in a bit of an Arcade Fire mentality, which really works… can’t wait to hear the new album in full!

Next up we have Faker on the comeback trail, who have just released their clip for the lead single “Dangerous” off their upcoming album Get Loved.

The band blogged about the video shoot in London a couple of weeks ago: “We were trying to work out what the video should be when our friend Luke Eve (who’d directed the video for Sleepwalking from Be The Twilight) emailed Nathan out of the blue saying he had a great idea for a music video. It involved us, a couple of 17,000km flights and the Dangerous Twins (the dark figures from the Dangerous artwork). It sounded like our kind of adventure.

“We found some locations around the city that we wanted to film at: in Brixton, in Shoreditch, in the city and on the Tube, and spent three days shooting, occasionally with permission… Nathan spent most of those three days running- the theme of the video is a chase, although who is chasing and who is being chased is a little ambiguous… Nathan has always said that he’s happiest if he’s exhausted at the end of a video shoot… this was certainly the case for this shoot, and in to the bargain he completely destroyed the outfit he wore for it.”

What started off as a solo adventure for Sydney singer songwriter Ernest Ellis has, over the past three years, evolved into a rounded solid collective… introducing Ernest Ellis & The Panamas. Over the past few months Ernest Ellis & The Panamas have been busy recording their second LP, due for release September 2011.

The first single from the album is “Great Sky”, recorded at Studios 301 in Sydney and produced by Tim Carr & Ernest Ellis, and according to the band it’s the song they’ve always wanted to record. It’s huge, blissful, heartbreaking and at the same time optimistic. A beautiful tune that signifies the development of the band and points us towards the exciting road the new record will go down. Check out the clip here:

For the film-clip for “Tunnel Vision”, Red Remedy spent most of a day buried up to their necks in sand by the Kacevski Brothers, whose film credits include Australia, Happy Feet 2, Mad Max: The Fury Road and film-clips for bands such as Syndicate & Stone Parade. Here’e the video!

Adelaide singer/songwriter Myles Mayo released his self-titled album earlier this year, and from it come the new single “I Slept The Winter Underground”. We’re loving the video and here it is for you now.

Next up we have Jim Ward’s new video for “Broken Songs”. His new album Quiet In The Valley, On The Shores The End Begins is out this Friday July 22, and it’s not long before he graces OUR shores!!

Next up we have another video from the vampyric chanteuse extraordinaire, Anna Calvi! Her brooding track “Desire” sees her locked up in a darkened room… most exciting! Check it out below…

We move on quickly now to one of my personal favourite tracks of the moment, “Moonpark” from Sydney’s Only The Sea Slugs. You can check them out LIVE with Slow Down Honey an The Villainares at Tone in Sydney this Saturday. Tickets $10. Find out more HERE and watch the video for “Moonpark” below, directed by Scott Picket!

We arrive now at t2o videos which have caught my eye: Phrase with his new single “Apart (feat. Davey Lane)” and Brilliant Colors with “Round Your Way”.

We close out this week with a look at the UK video for Cloud Control‘s “Gold Canary”, which sees the band jumping out of a plane… good times, good times. A very entertaining video and a perfect end to our post this week!
