Loyle Carner has been generating some heat this year; having seen the reception the young British hip hop artist garnered at SXSW this year, it was clear that this guy out of South London had some serious potential he was only giving us hints of at that pint. With his debut EP A Little Late dropping in the latter half of 2015, Carner has continued to remain on his grind, climbing to high favour with tastemaker blogs and UK radio, not to mention working and touring with a wide array of artists from Kate Tempest through to Joey Bada$$ and Tom Misch.
Recent singles “Stars and Shards” and “Ain’t Nothing Changed” have been well received too, with the former landing in the graces of triple j this year. His latest single, “NO CD”, is a fitting third single release for Carner and the music video is a great accompaniment. Directed by Alessandra Kurr and featuring a number of family members, friends and fellow artists (keep an eye out for Jordan Rakei), we get to see different rooms in a house full of action – while Carner and collaborator Rebel Kleff‘s tune remains the main thread linking it all together.
