Music Video of the Day: Overcoats “Leave The Light On” (2017)

New York duo Overcoats are JJ Mitchell and Hana Elion – two musicians who have captivated our attention recently. Their debut album YOUNG is out now – exuding excitement and charm, there have been many moments on the album that caught our attention initially but more importantly, kept it.

Current single “Leave The Light On” is one such example, a beautiful tune that has only recently been brought back onto our radars via the release of its official music video. Directed by Charlotte Hornsby and Jesse Ruuttila, the music video takes Overcoats to New York City’s Rockaway Beach, bringing themes of independence and self-reliance to life on screen.

“It’s about growing up and being strong”, Overcoats have explained. “We are wearing these big suits that we’re drowning in to kind of symbolise that, the effort to be older and put together and in control, even when you feel too young or weak or small.”
