Vancouver trio The Courtneys have caught our eye with their flawless fusion of influences from the likes of Eddy Current to Teenage Fanclub, whipped up into some heartfelt music that sticks with you. Take their single “Silver Velvet”, for example.
Dreamy, vocally dynamic and coming packing with that fuzzy grunge glory, the single bathes in 90’s memories but remains very much in today’s era. The music video for “Silver Velvet” pays homage to New Zealand band Bailter Space who, coincidentally, are The Courtneys’ labelmates on Flying Nun Records. It’s a fun clip, featuring cameos from mates and various members of bands including Dead Ghosts, Dead Soft and more.
