Melbourne’s Tim Wheatley has released his third track from his Top 10 album Cast of Yesterday in “78 Benz”, a nice little slice of folk-rock we’ve been switched onto this week.
Wheatley’s vocals shine on the track, drawing you in and melting in brilliantly with the guitars and country-tinged arrangement. Working with Paul Mckercher and Niko Bolas on production and mixing duties respectively, Wheatley crafts a warm and rich musical atmosphere for fans to dive into.
For Wheatley, “78 Benz” remains his favourite song on Cast of Yesterday: “I had been in LA nearly a year, playing shows, writing and turning my hand to other things like modelling and acting. I was juggling three passions, in which rejection is an integral part, and really struggling with it. Ironically, as much as it was taking its toll on me, “78 Benz”, my favourite song on the record, would never have come about with the absence of struggle.”
Check out the single’s official music video below, directed by Andrew Noel, which plays into this struggle Wheatley alludes to above.
Tim Wheatley launches “78 Benz” this week in Sydney, hitting up with The Marlborough Hotel in Newtown on June 2nd, while bringing it home to Melbourne with a show at the Grace Darling on June 10th!
