Today we have added another ten tracks to our Discovery playlist on Spotify and Apple Music, including one track we exclusively premiered earlier in the week. Our Track of the Week is “Pretty Face”, the brand new single from Tasmanian artist Lasca Dry.
The track, a stylish, confident and playful slice of alternative pop/rock, pokes fun at stereotypes and ironically delivers some social commentary. According to the Lasca, the song is a reflection of her own experiences of being dismissed due to her appearance, stating “I wanted to show that regardless of a person’s appearance, their minds can grow and learn, teach, and share, discover, feel, and create with just as much thinking power as any other’s.”
Lasca has already worked hard to make a name for herself in her home state, she’s clearly one to watch. So keep an eye out for Lasca at a venue near you in the future.
“From The Start” is the new single from LA-based multi-instrumentalist Laufey. It’s a Bossa Nova inspired track about being in love with your best friend, who is in love with someone else. It’s the first taste of more new music to come from the Icelandic-Chinese artist and comes ahead of her forthcoming Australian tour dates in June.
Nashville singer-songwriter Becca Tremmel releases her new single “Constellations” today. According to Tremmel, “Constellations” tells the story of a new, fragile love. It’s an understated and charming slice of Americana/folk pop, with some beautiful vocals and harmonies.
Melbourne rock duo Sick Visor are back with a fun punk track about refusing to dwell on the negatives. They’re strengthened by Adelaide’s TOWNS on catchy guest vocals and drums.
Also added to the playlist this week are new tracks from Kitschen Boy, Sweden’s Hanna Ögonsten, Bree Rusev, LP and Mick Thomas. We also have “Riptide” from The Scary Jokes which we premiered earlier this week.
