We have added a further ten new tracks to our Discovery playlist on Spotify and Apple Music, including one single we exclusively premiered earlier in the week. This week our Track of the Week is “Honeycomb” from West Australian legends San Cisco.
San Cisco have been hard at work on their fifth studio album, and have started to tease out a few singles. The latest track to drop is “Honeycomb”, and features drummer Scarlett Stevens on lead vocals. It’s a rare treat to hear Scarlett take the vocal lead, and they are as sweet as the track title on this new release. It’s a bit of a shift from their previous singles, with a dreamy electronic vibe about it. “Honeycomb is about the moreish feeling of falling in love,” the band explain. “It’s about self love and self confidence and the joy of food. It treads this fine line of not wanting to lose yourself to love but also surrendering completely to someone and the sweet feeling that comes with that.”
Ahead of the release of their fifth album in July, Busby Marou have today released their new single “Conversation”. According to the band, the song is a playful jab at social media and the way it’s eroding our ability to connect with one another. It’s an important message, but one delivered in a positive way. This track is a vibe; with a killer groove and a memorable whistle hook. The band are just about to head out on the road for a series of dates. Check out their website for more information and to grab tickets.
There’s A Tuesday from New Zealand are a band we are following closely. Their sweet harmonies, glistening guitars and dreamy melodies have so much to love about them. Their latest track, “Familiar” has all of these characteristics in abundance. Fans of The Beths, and nostalgic lovers of Frente are going to crush on this band.
Aure is a French singer/songwriter from Paris, and will be releasing her debut EP, a few notes, later in the year. The first single from the record is “The Line”, which is a beautiful restrained and elegant slice of folk/pop. The EP was recorded in one take in a small Romanesque chapel in the region of the Cevennes in the south of France. Fans of Nico and Aldous Harding should get on board with this one.
“Rode Off Into The Sun” is the new single from Bristol-based alt-pop outfit Ålesund. The anthemic track is the second single from their forthcoming EP and captures those last days of summer vibes perfectly. Lyrically, the track demonstrates a wonderful sense defiance; it’s all about picking yourself up and making the most of a bad situation. That defiance comes across strongly in the ethereal yet stirring vocals of front woman Alba Torriset.
“Bring Me the Head of the Lapwing” is the new single from Marc Delgado, a singer-songwriter from Woodstock, NY. The poignant and emotive track is the first to be released from Delgado’s ‘New Song A Month’ project, which will culminate in a new record next year. According to Delgado the track was borne out of frustration at the “endless violence we have, sadly, grown accustomed to”. It’s a quietly powerful track, lyrically astute, and an emotive vocal.
“Hurts so Good” is from indie-folk rockers The Paper Kites. It’s a beautiful, gentle and melodic track, which treads lightly and focuses all the senses. It will be on their sixth album, At The Roadhouse, to be released later in the year.
Finally, we have an exclusive premiere, “FROZEN LASAGNE” from FVNERAL.
