As May starts to wrap up, we have ten more tracks to add to our Discovery playlist on Spotify and Apple Music.
Leading things off this week is our track of the week, “make me feel so…” the new single from Montaigne (pictured). The track was written in collaboration with Icelandic artist, and fellow Eurovision contestant Daði Freyr. The two connected, unsurprisingly at the contest in Rotterdam last year, with Freyr crediting Montaigne’s creativity and unique voice. The song, which is wonder of a love that makes you feel safe, is accompanied by a The Sims-inspired visualiser designed by artist Thomas Rawle. You can check that out HERE.
Joining the Eurovision stars on the playlist is Brisbane alt-pop artist Lemonade Baby, with his latest offering “Alien”. The single is a punchy lament for past loves with 00s RnB vibes and spine-tingling falsettos. We’ve also added “Drunk”, the second single from Sydney indie pop duo youproblem. “Drunk” is a woozy and playful alternative ‘anthem’ that looks to recreate the feeling of, and the emotion behind, being drunk. It’s a fun, enjoyable listen, and there’s more on the way from the duo too.
“Entertain Me” is the title track of the debut EP by Melbourne alternative rockers Static Motion. It’s a bit of a slow burner with some wonderful brooding bluesy vibes. Quietly atmospheric, the song really takes off in the second half with a fiery guitar solo. These guys have swagger! Another slow burner on this week’s playlist is “Cicada Days” from US artist Will Wood. The track is delightfully theatrical and quirky, with an emotional intensity and a few unexpected tonal shifts to look forward to too.
Rounding out the playlist are new tracks from Sydney-based, Brooklyn-born artist Danté Knows; Paris-based singer-songwriter Quiet Dan; Norwegian folk rocker Soul Zimon & His Kozmic Combinations and Melbourne garage rockers Naked Mannequin. Finally, we also have “Lying Flat” from Hedy Blaazer; the video for which we premiered earlier this week.
