This week we’ve topped up our discovery playlist with nine new tracks, including two exclusive premieres. Our Track of the Week is “Come, Cry” the new single from Norwegian artist Metteson.
The nordic pop star will shortly be heading out on tour in the UK and Ireland with fellow Norwegian AURORA, and is definitely one to watch in 2022.
“Come, Cry”, like much of Metteson’s work, is pop at it’s grandest and most theatrical. It’s not surprising then that he has a background in acting and performance. With a slight melancholic tinge, and a striking chorus “Come, Cry” simply soars; and will surely captivate live.
This week we also have a new release from Northern Irish songwriter SOAK. “last july” is the first track to be released from the SOAK’s forthcoming third album If I Never Know You Like This Again, which is set to drop on May 20th. With an off-kilter vocal, swirling guitars and quality lyricism, “last july” shows the Derry singer-songwriter in fine form, and has got us excited to hear more.
There’s also Brooklyn’s Widowspeak, whose latest single “While You Wait” comes off their forthcoming sixth (!!) LP The Jacket, which is out on 11th March. It’s a stunning track, with equal parts synth flute, guitar and Molly Hamilton’s beautiful vocals.
Also featured this week is a captivating collaboration between Steve Gunn and Tuareg artist Mdou Moctar, a new release from AU favourites The Head and the Heart, and the return of Rex Orange County and Warpaint. We also have exclusive premieres from Just A Leo and Bailey Judd.
