Today we bring you five new music videos that have caught our eye.
First up, we have “Keith St” – the first glimpse of the forthcoming Oh Mercy album. The laid back video for Keith St was shot on the streets of Melbourne by UK based director Brad Lawson. The footage was actually meant for two viral videos of Alexander performing an acoustic version of the track, however the iconic back drop of the MCG, the Richmond station & the Rooftop Bar at Curtin House cried out to be a film clip for the latest single. Look closely and you will notice the rain being kind to Alexander’s hair, but not his guitar.
Released originally as a two track 7″ vinyl single, selling out in just under two weeks, “Keith St” has now been repackaged as an EP and features three previously unreleased b-sides. The iTunes digital release will also feature When I Said from the vinyl single. The EP will be released on November 5, 2010, and you can pre-order the EP now HERE. Oh Mercy are touring with Crowded House and the lovely Sally Seltmann in two separate tours this November / December.
Next, we have Gold Coast collective Operator Please, returning with their newest single “Volcanic”, the fourth taken from their sophomore album, Gloves. The video sees the band entangled in ropes, reminiscent of being controlled by an unseen puppetmaster somewhere out of shot. It reflects the sentiment of the track itself, which speaks of a relationship that has been worn down to boredom born out of frustration and control. The video was shot in Sydney Park, and directed by Mark Alston.
Mushu, the acoustic driven Sydney band, return with a lovely video in “Neap Tide”:
Tara Simmons is a delight, and her video for the beautiful track “I Cannot Be Saved” proves why:
Finally, we move away from the local underground scene and move to the mainstream. We can’t help but enjoy this song for some reason. Here, superstar DJ collective Swedish House Mafia have teamed up with UK rap sensation Tinie Tempah to produce their next massive hit ‘MIAMI 2 IBIZA’
