New York native and indie power popette, Ingrid Michaelson may not yet be a household name on Australian shores, but do your research and you’ll find her name and her tunes littered across publications, radio and television worldwide. This is no mean feat for the DIY darling, who has released everything independently on her own label, Cabin 24 records.
Having shared stages with the likes of Jason Mraz, Keane and American icon, Dave Matthews, Ingrid has also been a fixture on national television, with appearances on Good Morning America, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen Degeneres Show.
Regularly compared to contemporaries Norah Jones, Feist and Regina Spektor, her self-depreciating humour, down to earth nature, impromptu tap-dancing and pristine vocals enable Ingrid to make the biggest venues feel intimate.
With endearing stage presence, touchingly heartfelt lyrics and stripped back, infectious songwriting, it’s no surprise the chanteuse achieved a Billboard Magazine cover, features in Rolling Stone Magazine, People and The New York Times, as well as securing an upcoming appearance on Australian television’s high-rating breakfast program, Sunrise.
Achieving Platinum sales with the infectious single The Way I Am in her home country, Ingrid hopes to have similar success with the Australian release of her single this November, which will be released digitally during her much anticipated debut Australian tour.
