Nominees announced for 2011 National Indigenous Music Awards

As the excitement builds for the inaugural National Indigenous Music Awards [NIMAs], MusicNT is pleased to announce the finalists in each category.

The highly anticipated finalist announcement signifies an important juncture in indigenous music history. By representing the breadth of the growing music scene the NIMAs recognise traditional and emerging musicians. The shortlisted nominees have been chosen by a select panel of industry judges.

Dan Sultan (Act of the Year Nominee) will headline the National Indigenous Music Awards at Darwin Amphitheatre on August 19. Also performing on the night are members of Coloured Stone, Warumpi Band, No Fixed Address, the Red Flag Dancers from Numbulwar; with Grant Nundhirribala [Yilila] as well as the recently added Iwantja (New Talent of the Year Nominee) and the Song People Sessions with Shellie Morris.
