**Editorial Note: Since publishing, Papa Bilko and the Binrats have had to pull out of the event, being replaced by JOSEPH LIDDY AND THE SKELETON HORSE.
Sydney musicians are hosting a celebration of the talent continuing to thrive within the city in the face of recent venue shutdowns, licensing restrictions and the general calls of the music scene’s flame being extinguished at the end of the month, with Old Mate’s Block Party hitting the Factory Theatre. Led by The Lockhearts, the inaugural day-long festival will feature other artists, including Papa Bilko and the Binrats, The Dead Love and more in an attempt to generate a party-hard atmosphere that will bring punters out from the comfort of their Netflix-dominated households.
As The Lockhearts declare: “Let’s raise up the greedy, the corrupt and the out-of-touch who would turn the whole of Sydney into an overpriced wine bar and just get down in a venue and make so much noise together as one that people go, ‘That was a mad gig, hey?'”.
They’ve also teamed up with local art director Lachlan Bruce in order to transform the Factory Floor into a space where Sydney artists will be able to showcase their work, also featuring food and drinks of course. Tickets are on sale now for just $20 plus a booking fee. Grab yours from The Factory‘s website!
