After a hiatus of two years, Austin City Limits has returned. Inclement weather made for a slow start but could not stop the music.
Australian talent Tkay Maidza on the T-Mobile Stage showed amazing ownership of the stage and got the crowding moving. Fellow Aussie Chet Faker was on the Miller Light Stage, offering a feel-good experience with his funky electronic-pop tones. Like most of the ACL Friday lineup, it was a very chill set that was fitting for a very relaxed first day.
Machine Gun Kelly, the first big act in this shortened first day did not disappoint, and made a raucous young crowd extremely happy. And the theatrics were there too; the star emerging from a faux pill bottle to start for a very impressive stage set.
Megan Thee Stallion infused her booty bumping music into a crowd that was already amped from Machine Gun Kelly and took it to the next level. In preparation for the night’s headliner, Miley Cyrus.
