Bloc Party

It was packed to the rafters on Sunday night at the Hindley Street Music Hall as punters excitedly waited for the triumphant return of UK legends Bloc Party. Co-founders Kele Okereke on lead vocals and Russell Lissack on lead guitar were joined by Louise Bartle on drums and touring bassist Harry Deacon.

They played a generous and enthusiastic set including “Helicopter” and “Banquet”, naturally.

Four-piece all-girl Adelaide band Oscar the Wild were the openers. After quickly brushing away a few minor nerves, they launched into tracks from their debut EP: She’ll be Right. Lead singer Ruby Gazzola sure knows how to belt out a tune that makes everyone pay attention.
