The Paper Kites flew into Brisbane on Friday night for a joyous evening at the perfectly suited Tivoli Theatre to deliver songs from their latest album At The Roadhouse, plus covering many of the beautifully crafted songs we’ve all grown to fall in love with over their last 10 or so years.

Hannah Cameron, accompanied by Merinda Dias-Jayasinha and Georgia Darvidis on backing vocals opened the evening perfectly with sweet soulful vocals and a short set with a country tinge and a be-sparkled Gretsch guitar keeping us all enthralled.

Hannah rejoined as part of the Roadhouse touring band and we are treated to a very special two part set with an acoustic led opener, before the stools went away and the band fired up for full Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers vibes. What made the night really interesting were the moments in between when the band gathered around a vintage mic at the front of the stage, led by Sam Bentley and Dave Powys as they sang harmonies in a very intimate and magical way.

We felt the love and The Paper Kites felt the appreciation for a perfect show.
