Perth based alt-rocker RinRin has just dropped brand new single “PRN“, and it’s another absolute ripper from the rising alt star.
RinRin, the musical project of singer-songwriter and guitarist Qarin Hipe, pulls influences from the likes of BABYMETAL, Poppy, and Bring Me The Horizon. The end result is a unique fusion of pop-punk and metal, and – coming from someone fortunate enough to catch her live earlier this year – it’s as exciting on stage as it is pumped through your headphones.
The first in a string of fantasy-fueled releases, “PRN” launches RinRin’s fictional multiverse, populated by character variants leading very different lives. In this track’s timeline, RinRin is trapped in a psychiatric ward, unhinged and ruled by resentment and anger. When she finally escapes, she has one goal – to hunt down and kill the others of her kind, with the twisted hope that it will put an end to their own suffering. “PRN” explores mental health, coping mechanisms, and healing, with future RinRin variants taking on their own specific stories and emotions.
Produced, mixed, and mastered with Windwaker‘s Chris Lalic, “PRN” is a must listen for anyone who likes their songwriting with a side of long-term storytelling.
A two time winner of the WAM award for Best Heavy/Metal Song of the Year, and a slew of headline and support slots (inc. Windwaker, RedHook, Reliqa, Caskets, The Home Team, and a massive Walk Off The Earth Chinese arena tour) make it clear that RinRin is definitely one to watch.
