Salvos Stores pop up shop at the Adelaide Train Station tomorrow!

Australia’s largest charity recycler, Salvos Stores has been changing the lives of Australians in need since 1883. To celebrate its important role within the community, Salvos Stores is hosting a one off pop-up store to be set up at Adelaide train station TOMORROW, this Friday, September 28 from 1-6pm.

Having made a name for itself as Australia’s leading stockist of pre-loved goods, Salvos Stores has been helping the environment and those marginalized and disadvantaged by recycling and reselling donated items for almost 130 years, becoming an Australian Institution along the way. Punters can find a large range of clothing, accessories and various other goods from across many different eras at Salvos Stores. All profits go directly to The Salvation Army to assist in funding the various social programs and support offered to those marginalised and disadvantaged.

Salvos Stores Chief Executive Officer, Allen Dewhirst explains, “Our motivations for this campaign are really quite simple. We want to remind our great customers and the wider community of just how much their shopping and donating at Salvos Stores helps those marginalised and disadvantaged.”

In a typical week, The Salvation Army provides approximately:

100,000 meals and 8,000 food vouchers for the hungry
2,000 beds for the homeless
1,000 people with assistance in finding employment
Refuge for 500 victims of abuse
Assistance to 500 people with drug, alcohol and gambling problems
Offering assistance to thousands of people with counselling
3,000 people with aged car services
Family tracing services to aid in locating missing family members

In summary, The Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians every year – that’s an average of one person every 30 seconds! Please continue to donate your unwanted goods to Salvos Stores and feel proud of doing so, as you’re not only recycling and benefiting the environment, but you’re also coming to the aid of many needy Australians.

Have you had a great experience and/or managed to pick up a bargain in one of the 215 Salvos Stores around the country? Head to Salvos Stores’ facebook page to show off your greatest Salvos Stores finds. “We are asking people to enter our ‘Face of Salvos Stores’ competition for the chance to win a $500 Salvos Stores voucher. We hope their stories will inspire people to visit our stores to shop and donate,” Dewhirst says.

The pop up shop will have plenty of good quality clothing, accessories and bric-a-brac on offer and with 38 stores in Adelaide and its surrounding suburbs, there’s no excuse not to head out and pick up a Spring bargain!
