South Australian music industry group Musitec have announced an exclusive partnership with the globe’s most prestigious music college out in the US in a push to foster opportunities for SA uni students. Linking up with the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship (BerkleeICE), Musitec will be developing a program allowing SA students to develop, explore and commercialise ideas through international collaborations.
The Institute, based within the Berklee College of Music out of Boston, is known for preparing graduates for successful careers in the music industry and this program, according to Musitec’s David Grice, will present opportunities for student exchanges, internships and mentorships between Boston and Adelaide.
“Products and services that are created through collaboration with Berklee students can then be marketed to the world through both Musitec and Berklee’s global networks. The flow on from this partnership will see new research, new companies, new Intellectual Property and new jobs created in South Australia.”
The signing was attended by SA Premier Jay Weatherill at SXSW in Austin, the Texan city of course being Adelaide’s sister city. He says of the partnership, “The State Government supported the establishment of industry clusters like Musitec to encourage collaboration and drive industry innovation. Musitec’s partnership with a global leader in music education will help foster the next generation of innovators in the music industry.”
