Second round of Bluesfest sideshows announced including Morcheeba, Larry Graham and more.

The Bluesfest Touring season is expanding by the minute as it delivers the incredibly diverse second installment in a series of sideshow announcements. Peter Noble, Director of Bluesfest describes the announcement as “an eclectic mix of trip-hop, hip-hop, funk and not to mention a little bit of free-jazz and psychedelia, an unmissable series of shows that are not for the faint hearted.”

British pioneering trip-hop trio Morcheeba will be heading to Melbourne and Sydney along with MC for the ground-breaking hip-hop group Jurassic 5, Chali 2na with his band House of Vibe. Forming in 1995, Morcheeba have won the hearts of fans around the world with their dreamy, soulful, down tempo sounds. After breaking up in 2003 and working on solo projects the Godfrey brothers and Skye Edwards have since reunited over the last three years and longtime fans will be please to know they are coming to Australia with their original line-up.

Also appearing in Melbourne and Sydney is funk pioneer and inventor of the ‘slap bass’ technique, Larry Graham with his band Graham Central Station who has become one of the most in demand recording and touring artists in the world, included collaborations and touring with Prince.

Larry Graham is the thumping, funky bass engine who singlehandedly bought the instrument to the forefront of modern music and provided the churning undercurrent for numerous hits by Sly and the Family Stone including “Dance to the Music,” “Everyday People,” “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” “I Want To Take You Higher”. After Sly and the Family Stone, Larry Graham founded and fronted Graham Central Station who gave us hits such as “Your love”, “Feel The Need In Me”.

Scottish singer, songwriter and musician KT Tunstall will be taking on an extensive tour including Newcastle, Central Coast, Dee Why, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns. From the young busker who burst onto the UK’s ‘Later’ programme with Jools Holland way back in 2004 – pumping her ‘Wee Bastard’ loop machine into highly infectious rhythms and beats. KT Tunstall has grown in voice and maturity through four albums and a swag of best-selling singles.

Last but not least we announce a very special double-bill and a first for Australia; Captain Beefheart’s collaborators – The Magic Band and Grandmothers of Invention featuring original members of the Mothers of Invention.
