Hands down, my favourite song this week. Can I say that, even though it’s only Monday? I’m going to go with it anyway. Mojo Juju is one of the east coast’s most entertaining and charming performers; an attitude in stage presence is felt just as prominently on record too, something I’ve been finding a rare quality recently.
On new single “Think Twice”, we’re introduced to a somewhat new chapter of Mojo’s musicality; some darker, heady beats mix in with fantastic pop production, while Mojo’s vocal remains enticing as ever. The opening progression reminds me ever-so-slightly of Gloss Drop-era Battles and ZABA-era Glass Animals – two groups who I love for their ever-changing direction over the years. Similarly, watching Mojo’s musical evolution over the past few years has been a complete joy and excites me for what is still to come.
